Jumping the boarder.

I spent Sunday in San Diego with Chris Bracamonte, Cody McKenna, Trever the grom, and Alex Auerbach. We drove south down the coast looking for cooler tempatures and transition. First stop was a nice session at the Clairemont park, where Cody Blasted the holy hell out of a few airs and Chris clocked some clean lines for his up coming edit.

Before we left the Clairemont park, we saw a fight between two different groups of skaters. I saw mutiple people get cracked in the skull with boards and bikes. Good thing we were at the other end of the skatepark and putting our equipment away. Between Alex and myself we had thousands of dollars of Camera equipment in the park when the shit hit the fan.

Heavy ass shit like a bicycle flying at your head could easily wreck your day. Cops showing up meant it was time to split, so we did.

From there we moved on down to our next stop for the day, the infamous and overly photographed Home Ave Ditch. I had never been to Home Ave before and I was really excited to finally get there. The first thing you notice about the spot is the heavy amount of police force in the area. The ditch is right across the street from a shooting range for police officers. Cops were driving by all afternoon and did not say one word to us. You can even see the wallride in the ditch from the parking lot to the shooting range. This spot would be shut down in 2 seconds if it were in Los Angeles.

After some good mexican food (which is abundant in SD), we headed to the YMCA park where I was pleasantly suprised (but not shocked) to run in to my old friend Steve Woodward. Steve has been riding YMCA for years and it shows. It was great to catch up with Steve and meet a few other cool local shredders who were hanging out all afternoon.

[Cody, Footjam to Can. Way up there.]

Heading home after the YMCA turned out to be a traffic nightmare. We had picked the weekend of ComiCon to head to SD, which happens to be the busiest weekend event in San Diego all year. Needless to say, making our way back to LA took forever due to the heavy amount of people trying to head north on the 5 fwy, through the California Customs and Agriculture checkpoint. A lack of fruit or immigrants in our car made for a quick passage through the checkpoint, and then we were back to speed.

[Typical So-Cal scenery.]

Home by midnight. Good night to a great day.
